Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Mail Forms

This FAQ is aimed at site administrators to help them configure and use the mail forms. For more specific information, refer to Control Panel Help.

  1. What is required before I can use a mail form?
  2. How can I create a mail form on my website?
  3. What fields are required?
  4. What optional fields are available and what are they used for?
  5. How can I redirect users to another page on my website when they submit the form?

1. What is required before I can use a mail form?

Before you can use a mail form on your website, log into your Control Panel and go to the Services / Mail Forms page and enter the base URL of your website into the Base URL field.

2. How can I create a mail form on my website?

To create a mail form on your website, add a standard HTML form to the particular page and set the "action" parameter to the following URL:

http://community.hunin.com/services/mailforms/mailform.php

You must also add a hidden input field to the form named "org" (with the value being the Organization ID from the General / Identification page of your Control Panel). Your form should look something like the following:

<form method=post action= 'http://community.hunin.com/services/mailforms/mailform.php'>
   <input type=hidden name='org' value='MyURLName'>
   *** Insert your form fields here!! ***
   <input type=submit>
</form>

3. What fields are required?

The only required field for a mail form is "org" and the field name MUST be lower case. The value should be set to the Organization ID from the General / Identification page of your Control Panel and should match the case of your Organization ID exactly.

4. What optional fields are available and what are they used for?

The available optional fields are as follows:

  • "to" - This is the email address of the recipient of the email and MUST be a hidden field. If this field is missing, the email address of the User Contact from the General / Identification page of your Control Panel will be used.
  • "subject" - This is the subject of the email and can be either a hidden or a text field.
  • "redirect" - This is the URL of the page to redirect the user to after they have submitted the form and should probably be a hidden field. If this field is missing, the user will be redirected back to the page containing the form.
  • "name" - This is the name of the person that will be used in the "From:" field of the email.
  • "from" - This is the email address of the person that will be in the "From:" field of the email. If this field is missing, the email address of the User Contact from the General / Identification page of your Control Panel will be used.

Note that all field names must be lower case but the values are not case sensitive.

5. How can I redirect users to another page on my website when they submit the form?

To redirect users to another page on your website when they have submitted the form, add a hidden "redirect" field to your form with the value being the URL you would like to redirect them to.
