How important are cookies?A cookie is only required when logging into your Control Panel or when your services require people to log in to post (i.e. they must have a valid user account). If you have Auto-Login checked in your User Profile your cookie will be written to your hard drive. Some people might consider this a security risk in that people with physical access to your computer could gain access to your login information. If you do not use the Auto-Login feature, the cookie is not written to your hard drive and is only in memory while your browser is open. 10. What are the security concerns with using cookies?Cookies were once thought to be a security risk but have since been proven to be harmless. The cookie used in the Community Builder services is specific to our web domain and is in no way accessible to other servers or websites. In short, the only way someone could get their hands on your cookie would require them to be on site (at your computer) and copy the actual cookie file from your hard drive. Furthermore, unless you have checked the Auto-Login feature in your user profile, the cookie used on this site is never written to your hard drive and only resides in memory while your browser is open.
