Poll Options

This page contains the configuration options for your Polls.

Custom HTML

This section allows you to override the HTML code that appears on the General / Appearance page so that you can further customize the appearance of your polls. It is only visible if Use Custom HTML is checked on the the General / Appearance page.

If you are unfamiliar with HTML, you should not use this section. Also, the stylesheet that comes with the default HTML should be included in your custom HTML as well but you should feel free to change the values (colors, fonts, etc.) of the various items to meet your needs.

The Override Main HTML box must be checked in order to enable the HTML Top and HTML Bottom fields. The HTML Top content will appear before the poll on the page and the HTML Bottom content will appear below the poll on the page. You do not need to check Override Main HTML if you want to use the HTML entered on the General / Appearance page.

Header URLs

These URLs will be used as the default values for all Polls that you create.

The Header Image field is optional and can contain a fully qualified URL (including the "http://") to an image to appear at the top of the Poll.

The Header Link field is optional and can contain a fully qualified URL (including the "http://") of a page to go to when the header image is clicked. If the Header Image field is blank, the Header Link field will be ignored.

Vote Restriction

The Vote Restriction section determines if users can place multiple votes or if they are limited to one vote. These values are used as defaults for polls you create in the Control Panel and also affect polls created in your message boards.

If One Vote Only is checked, users will only be able to vote once for the specified amount of time (see below).

If voting is being restricted, the Restriction Mode determines the method of restriction. If IP is selected, the IP address of anyone voting will be stored and no votes will be accepted from that IP for the specified amount of time. If Cookies is selected, a cookie will be stored on the voter's machine (if cookies are enabled in their browser) and they will not be allowed to vote while the cookie is valid (i.e. the specified amount of time). The Restriction Mode for all polls posted in message boards will be set to Cookies because message board poll votes are not individually tracked like normal polls.

The Timeout field determines how long (in minutes) the user has to wait before they will be allowed to vote again. This field must contain a positive whole number (i.e. a number with no decimal point).

Other Options

The Other Options section contains additional features that can be turned on or off.

If Bar Color is the color of the percent bar that will appear in the results for each vote option. It should be in RGB form (i.e. "#112233") or a predefined constant (i.e. "silver").

If Login Required is checked, all users must successfully log in (and have View permissions) in order to view the Polls.

If Login to Post is checked, all users must successfully log in (and have Post permissions) in order to vote in a Poll.

If Email Posts is checked, all votes for a Poll will be emailed to the administrator user.

If Censor Posts is checked, all Polls will be censored from profanity.
