Message Board Features

The following is a list of features for the message boards.

For administrators:

Further customize the HTML for the top and bottom of the pages to specifically suit your message boards.
Add your own header image and URL link to appear at the top of the message board index.
Specify your own title for the top of the message board index.
Enter your own description using a custom markup language for the top of your message board index.
Specify the names and lower limits for the various ranks based on the number of messages a user has posted.
Specify the default number of entries to display per page for the message boards.
Specify the number of replies that designates a "hot topic".
Specify if users must log in before viewing certain message boards.
Specify if users must log in before posting messages to certain message boards.
Have all messages posted to the message boards emailed to the administrator.
Specify if messages should be censored for profanity.
Specify if the message board topic list will default to displaying in either a tree view or a table containing only the root topics.
Specify if the messages will default to displaying in either a tree view or have replies on the same page as the root message.
Specify if users are allowed to delete their own messages if someone has already replied (which would result in the replies being deleted also).
Specify if all messages must be approved by a moderator before they will be visible to other users.
Create as many message boards and categories of message boards as you want.
Move message boards from one category to another, even if they've got messages.
Specify if the "Invite friends to this message board" link is visible.
Specify if the "Email this topic to a friend" link is visible.
Specify if the "community chest" link is visible.
Specify if the "Hot topic" icons are to be used.
Specify if personal user photos are displayed in the message posts.
Default topic sorting by post date or by last reply date.
Add a different header image and URL link to appear at the top of each individual message board.
Enter different descriptions using a custom markup language for the top of each individual message board.
Purge old messages from the message boards.

For moderators:

Add "sticky" messages that will always appear at the top of the topic list.
Lock threads so that noone except yourself and other moderators can post replies.
Approve messages so that they can be viewed by all other users of the message boards.
Edit or delete any message, even those posted by other users.
Send warning messages to users regarding inappropriate activity.
Prevent users from logging in for 1 to 7 days due to inappropriate activity.
Move misposted messages to a more appropriate message board.

For users:

Specify the number of entries to display per page for the message boards.
Have all replies to your messages emailed to you.
Display the topic list in either a tree view or a table containing only the root topics.
Display the messages in either a tree view or have replies on the same page as the root message.
Post messages using a custom markup language to do special formating, link to other sites, add images, add emoticons, etc..
Preview the formatted message before it is posted.
Turn off formatting and emoticons if they are not wanted.
Select from a variety of icons to display next to the subject of your message.
Include a signature on the bottom of all your messages.
"Anti-spam" feature prevents someone from posting the same message more than once per minute.
View the profile of other users of the message boards.
Send private messages to other users of the message boards.
Sort the topic list by Topic, Posted By, or Date.
View the usage statistics for the message boards.
From the message board index, view the number of topics and messages to a particular message board and a summary of the most recently posted topic.
From the topic list, view the number of replies to a particular topic and the date and time of the last reply.
Easily identify topics with many replies by the "Hot topic" icon.
Easily identify topics that have been locked by the "Locked topic" icon.
Search the message boards for keywords in the subject or message.
Subscribe to a message board so all messages posted to it will be emailed to you.
Edit or delete messages that you've posted.
See who edited a message and when they did it.
One click access to contact the message board administrator.
Invite friends to a particular message board.
Send a topic to a friend.
See at a glance which topics have new activity since your last visit.
Sort topics by post date or by last reply date.
